The Chair in Strategy of International Relations

The area of research interests

The Chair in Strategy of International Relations (earlier the Department of Strategy of International Relations) was established in 2009 by prof. Michał Chorośnicki, PhD, a lawyer by education, a graduate from the first class of doctoral studies in political science opened at Institute of Political Science JU, a scholar with long-standing experience in academic work and teaching. 

At the Chair there are currently five academics who make up a dynamic and close-knit team led by the founder of the Chair, prof. dr. hab. Michał Chorośnicki. The research conducted by the members of the staff focuses on strategic issues in contemporary international relations, studied from both a theoretical and practical perspective. The results of their studies are published in the most prestigious scientific journals in the country and abroad. Our staff at the Chair have a wide range of research interests, which is reflected in the courses taught by them within the following fields of study: Political Science, International Relations and National Security.

Head of the Chair: prof. Michał Chorośnicki, PhD

Position: professor

Research interests:

Prof. M. Chorośnicki’s academic interests evolved from the problems of African countries, and non-aligned countries, through military policy of European countries. As a result of the scientific cooperation with the centres in the USA he extended his field of interest towards the area of American policy and regional and global strategies. Prof. M. Chorośnicki also studies the phenomenon of terrorism, and although it is not his central field of research, it remains an important area of his interest.

Aleksander Głogowski, PhD

Position: assistant professor with a habilitated doctor degree

Research interests:

International relations, South Asia, Pakistan - domestic and foreign policy, Afghanistan - domestic and foreign policy, international terrorism, Polish State Police (1918-1939), military history.

Ewa Szczepankiewicz-Rudzka, PhD

Position: assistant professor

Research interests:

The processes of social and political transformations in the countries of Maghreb; the migration policy of South European countries; the integration and adaptation of ethnic and religious minorities with particular emphasis on the situation in France; Islam and the West: the dilemmas of the relation; integration processes in the contemporary world.

Agnieszka Czubik, PhD

Position: assistant professor

 

Research interests:

 

Protection of human rights in Polish law, protection of human rights in international law, with particular emphasis on the work of the European Court of Human Rights and the method of interpretation of international law used by this authority, protection of human rights in the United States, especially the problems connected with the right to privacy.

Cybersecurity, forms of modern terrorism, including, in the first place, those connected with the development of modern technologies, American security policy, the strategies of national security, modern methods of data analysis, Big Data.
